Level 7 Diploma in Law
Introduction
The overall aim of the Level 7 Diploma in Law is to provide non-law graduates with a grounding and knowledge of foundation law subjects which will provide a sound basis to continue further in a law career. This is not a preparatory programme for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) examinations but is aimed to provide a basis for further legal study and/or training.
The qualification is aligned with aspects of the SQE in order to provide learners with a foundation in its various domains.
The aims of the programme are to:
- support the academic stage of training through study of foundation areas of law and Functioning Legal Knowledge and Practical Legal Skills and Knowledge domains aligned with aspects of the SQE and to develop learners’ approach to these studies at master’s level;
- develop analytical, evaluative and research skills appropriate to law at master’s level;
- provide the opportunity for research and in-depth study of a particular area of law through the research project/dissertation.
Delivery Methods

The learners can choose the mode of study as per their choice and convenience. For entry onto the Level 7 Diploma in Law, learners must:- Learners who possess Qualifications at Level 6 and/or;
- Learners who have work experience in legal sector and/or;
- Learners who possess a level 6 qualification in another discipline and want to develop their careers in business.

Achieving the Level 7 Diploma in Law helps learners to progress into :- express in a confident and professional manner their understanding of law;
- evidence independence of thought in a legal context;
- demonstrate high level of academic writing relevant to the professional nature of the Diploma;
- apply critical understanding of law principles;
- apply concepts outside their initial context;
- demonstrate significant, evidenced independence of thought;
- apply proficient communication of the results of their work.
